Dancing Begins: 8:00 p.m.
Tickets: $20.00 at the door
Please join us in celebrating the 50th
birthday
of Mr. Fezziwig, the most gracious party host in all of Dickens’
Bangers & Mash
plays popular dance tunes from
the
Regency to the Mid-Victorian period – including waltzes, polkas,
schottisches,
mazurkas, reels, English country dances, and, of course, those
perennial
Fezziwig favorites: the Congress of Vienna Waltz, the Bohemian National
Polka,
Lancers, and Sir Roger de Coverley.
There will be a pre-ball class in Victorian ballroom dance and,
as
usual, all set dances will be briefly taught or called at the ball. As
always
at Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig’s parties, partners are not required and
introductions
to partners will happily be provided.
And, of course, in honour of our host’s birthday,
we will
also play a scandalous game of Wink.
Those preferring the more intellectual pleasures of a game of
Whist will
be accommodated and, if necessary, instructed in the game.
Late Georgian Regency, Victorian, or modern
evening dress is
admired but not required. There will be a no-host (cash) bar and cake
and
a light Old English buffet will be served (Potluck contributions to
Mrs.
Fezziwig’s kitchen would be most welcome).
As Mrs. Fezziwig, our hostess, is fond of saying,
“Do come.
It won’t be the same without you!”
