You don’t have to be an evil mastermind, supervillain, mad scientist, or evil genius bent on taking over the world to attend the Evil League of Evil Ball, but it certainly helps!  Guests are invited to attend as their favorite Evil character – historical, fictional, or original. To learn more about the Evil League of Evil, guests may want to rent or buy Joss Whedon’s “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” (arguably, the best  musical of 2008), now available on DVD.

Our guest musicians for the evening are the good and evil geniuses of Avalon Rising , one of the finest American Celtic and Celtic Fusion Rock bands. Avalon Rising is as comfortable playing Victorian and vintage ballroom dance music and hauntingly beautiful traditional Celtic music as they are playing hard-hitting Renaissance and Celtic Fusion Rock; expect, therefore, a wide variety of dance music at the ball – from elegant waltzes and tangos to wild polkas, jigs, reels, and rock-and-roll swing!  As usual, all set dances will be briefly taught or called at the ball.  While some of the dances are highly choreographed, others are perfect for free-style dancing and creative expression. Indeed, we have seen groups of dancers dancing the polka, an Irish polka set, a Scots reel, and free-form rock to the very same Avalon Rising rune (For those wanting an introduction to vintage ballroom dance, there will be a pre-ball dance class at 7pm).

Costumes may be historical, science fiction/fantasy, modern evening dress (black or white tie), or simply basic black (You can NEVER go wrong with basic black!). The event includes musical performances, a no-host (cash) bar, and a light snack buffet.  Potluck contributions to the buffet will be greatly appreciated. World domination is a very expensive project!
